GRI Graduate Research Assistant Achieves Certification
June 28, 2011GRI Graduate Research Assistant Jonathan Fleming, received certification as a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) professional by the GIS Certification Institute and ArcGIS Desktop Professional Certification from software developer Esri. He is also a research associate and GIS coordinator in MSU's Forest and Wildlife Research Center.
As a certified GIS professional, Fleming has met the minimum standards for ethical conduct and professional practice as established by the GIS Certification Institute.
Certification requires achievement in three areas: educational achievement, professional experience and contributions to the profession. To earn Esri Technical Certification, candidates have to successfully pass an examination that assesses knowledge and skills cultivated through their years of GIS experience.
