Hancock County - Jim Corbin, Senior Research Scientist and Deputy Director of MSU's GeoResources Institute - Stennis location, recently accepted an invitation from NASA Stennis Chief Information Officer, Terry Jackson, to present an overview of GRID Computing and Computational GRID Environments to a group of 16 agency and industry CIO/IT representatives from NASA Stennis. Joining Corbin in his presentation were Dr. Tomasz Haupt and Sheikh Ghafoor, of MSU's Center for Advanced Vehicular Systems.

The 2-hour presentation was directed toward NASA's interest in creating a collaborative computational environment for the Stennis community (Federal City) that exploits current IT to synergize collaboration of federal, state, and local agencies with industry and academia, in an open environment that would eventually provide improved community support and decision making, natural disaster forecast and remediation, and education on a broad scale.
