Since GRI's research on invasive species is primarily within the MidSouth region, information is provided here on state invasive or noxious weed lists to the local land owner or land manager. Most states have declared certain species as being invasive or noxious weeds and have regulations on how they are handled, planted, and transported. Some states impose fines if the treatment of these species are not according to the regulations. The species for the MidSouth states that are considered invasive or noxious by the state Department of Agriculture, the state Exotic Pest Plant Council, the USDA Plants Database, or some other governing body are provided below. Links are provided for each species listed for information provided by the USDA Plants Database.

There is a federal invasive/noxious weed list and is available at the USDA Plants Database.
