The GeoResources Institute (GRI) actively interacts with regional, state and federal
governments and agencies, private landowners, and other organizations to identify and
prioritize environmental concerns. Depending on the identified issue, the GRI works
with this diverse clientele to develop:
- Applied or fundamental research projects to fill knowledge gaps; and
- Pilot projects to demonstrate, validate, and verify the operational efficiency of
potential solutions.
Spatial technologies are often the foundation of the interdisciplinary teams necessary
for these complex, comprehensive projects, demonstrating significant efficiencies in data
integration, data mining, and for long term planning and monitoring both in the
laboratory and in the field.
These longstanding GRI programs are the basis of new and continuing projects to
identify and develop state-of-the-art comprehensive approaches and systems to allow
more efficient, effective and accurate management and regulatory decisions to provide
environmentally sound economic development and quality of life for future generations.
