The Geosystems Research Institute at Mississippi State University is active in providing capabilities in remote sensing computational technologies, visualization techniques, natural resource management, and the transition of these into operational agency research, planning, and decision-support programs. With its multi-disciplinary team of researchers and educators, the GRI has developed nationally recognized research strengths, with strong relationships and inherent respect from state, regional and national agencies and business entities. The Geosystems Research Institute brings together faculty from 22 departments within 7 colleges within MSU. The GRI also collaborates with many businesses, community colleges, governmental agencies, and economic development organizations.


This beautiful bloom of the cogongrass plant happens to belong to one of the most invasive noxious weeds in Mississippi, and even the entire world.
