What: Phil Amburn's BattleCam Seminar
When: 1:30PM, May 7, 2007
Where: HPC 30

BattleCam is being developed as a visualization and data mining tool. It's initial purpose was to aid military analysts doing after-action review for distributed event simulations. Additional uses are now being considered, such as review of RADAR imagery and including weather in a synthetic battlefield. BattleCam is based on Delta3D, an open-source game engine from the Naval Postgraduate School. This talk will review the development of BattleCam and experiences with the Delta3D environment.

Philip Amburn currently works for Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) as the User Productivity Enhancement and Technology Transfer On Site for Forces Modeling and Simulation, with an office at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (AFB), Ohio. His research interests include constructive and virtual simulation, interactive three-dimensional (3-D) graphics and visualization. He retired from the U.S. Air Force where his last job was teaching at the Air Force Institute of Technology. Dr. Amburn received a Bachelor of Science degree in physics from Kansas State Teachers College; a Master of Science degree in computer science from the Air Force Institute of Technology; and a Ph.D. in computer science from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
